Enough Jules-bashing, Already

I'm done with the Jules bashing. By the way, I'm Jewish and posted
several notes under the subject "Jewels." Not only is the
anti-semitism not thinly veiled it is non-existant), and it is only
the eyes and mind of Tom below.

I second the motion of our distinguished colleague from Hell's Kitchen.
And we could drop the thinly veiled anti-Semitism of "Jewels." His name
is Jules.

If Jules makes any money with a web-based book, then *that* would
be news (Wired seemed more interested in the "flame wars" than the
story line).

Regarding the rights, since none of us are copyright lawyers
I've been amused at the various opinions and positions people have
taken. Joining the fray, I have to believe that if there were any case to be
made, even a career-setting "internet" precedent, that some of the lawyers
people have talked to about this would have snapped it up by now. My
amateur understanding of law leads me to guess that unless someone
can show compensatory damages because their posts were used, there
is no case.

First, if "Lineland" makes anyone think twice about posting then he/she
is pretty spine-less. I though the P-list celebrated TRP and his incisive
opinions, and that P-listers don't give a damn about what They think.
Second, I don't think anyone here will shrink away from expressing
him/her bad self. Finally, this list is not only public but nicely indexed
(Thanks, Mr. Dinn!), and the various opinions, flames, etc. are all there
to see by anyone with a simple ASCII terminal. Besides, some folks
might be better off having their flames edited for publication.

"Lineland" might draw some attention to specific flame wars here,
& may make some folks uncomfortable, but so far as I can tell there's
no law against it. As for so-called "private posts" to Jules, anyone naive
enough to believe an electronic message will stay private with someone
they don't know personally needs a serious reality check. Even with folks
I know & trust, I never post anything I couldn't face up to later, smut
included.

Onward!
