I second that.

He's right. Yes. What we have here is another instance of something
more often seen on newsgroups: people forgetting that there is a Real(tm)
World with real people in it, and (here's the tricky part) the Internet
is just a part of that Real World. A-and the people on it, whom one
insults and flames and denigrates and slanders and demonizes so blithely,
are actual human persons with fleshy smelly ol' corporeal bodies and
everything and they are not confined, like little preterite electrons, to
the virtual halfworld of the Net -- *they exist in the Real World.*
(Don't you?) A-and every time you post something, they are all
listening; it is exactly like printing something up on flyers and pasting
them onto walls and telephone poles all over the world.
So someone goes around quoting what you said? You betcha. Puts the
quotation in writing and print his own flyers? Damn right he does. How
long did you think it would take? Is it someone you don't like? Tough
shit, my friends. Be glad our own little conversation here is
interesting enough to be treated like this! You won't find anyone
publishing quotations from talk.politics.misc or talk.creationism or the
Martha Stewart Mailing List.
Cheers,
David
