In the Zone (and trying to purchase M&D)

First off, Barnes & Nobles will NOT sell me this book!  The "guy" told me
they had 40 copies in the back room but couldn't sell it until Sunday.
Sunday I went in and another guy told me they were expecting 40 copies but
they hadn't arrived yet, and even if they did I couldn't purchase one until
Wednesday.  I asked to reserve a copy, even pay in advance -- he told me no,
the computer couldn't do that because they were on a new distributor system
that would kick me out of the "SYSTEM" if the book wasn't either 1) still at
the distributor, or 2) in the store on the shelf (not in the back room).  If
the book is in transit (via W.A.S.T.E, no doubt), it's existence is nebulous
and uncertain, and the "System" cannot recognize it.  Figures...
