What got me hooked on Pynchon

First of all, I doubt if I am hooked but I do admire the guy's work -
I first heard of TRP through the Sunday NY Times review of GRAVITY'S
RAINBOW - I ran (not walked) to the nearest bookstore that Sunday
morning - After GR I quickly read V and COL49 - What grabbed me? The
words - I caught by the prose - Which is why I have no interest in
possible TRP sightings but a great deal of interest in all his works
