Mason: Approach and Approach

One very intriguing thing about Mason is unlike Stencil, his search for 
Rebecca entails no such avoiding in his approaching.  He exhibits a bit 
of an Ichobod Crane-ish tendency to being easily spooked but I would 
argue his fears of any of these scary happenings (busting that "membrane" 
to the Other world) not being true would leave him irrevocably split from 
his beloved, Rebecca.  This truth would be far worse than any demons he 
can conjure or perceive...makes him a bit more human (mature?) than 
Stencil...
