MASON & DIXON in French

I cannot really believe that it's out in French already (purty fast, 
huh?). The German public has been told not to expect it until 98 or 99. 
So much for that.

I was just told by a friend of mine that MASON & DIXON is just appearing 
in
French bookstores (in French of course [MASON ET DIXON?]) - Is this an
unusually quick time frame - Does anybody know how long it took for GR 
for
example to get translated?   And are there other translations of M&D out
there?
