John, glad you mentioned the Firesign Theatre. I'm a big Firesign fan from
the early 70s. When I first read GR (in the summer of 73), I thought Pynchon
was just a pseudonym for the 4 Firesigns. The book seemed too erudite,
complex, and funny for just one guy to write. And, until that time, Firesign
records were the closest I had come to genius. Hey, maybe they even wrote
that Feitlebaum routine!
