I saw it and wasn't overly impressed , but at least Allison got a 
paycheck.  I think the problem was in the acting and not the 
adaptation (although the little girl, whose name I can't recall, was 
excellent).  For an intra-genre comparison see Paris Trout, 
outstandingly acted by Dennis Hopper and Barbara Hershey. 

It did leave me wondering why Captain Courageous couldn't screen it
on his networks--the film was intense but certainly not gratuitous
and not at all graphic.  The treatment of the rape/molestation was
as proper as a treatment of rape/molestation can be.
