Proverb for paranoids

[Murthy Yenamandra]

> "The innocence of the *creatures* is in inverse proportion to the
> immorality of the *Master*."

Well, I looked up the section with the proverb and it definitely looks
odd. According to the context, the proportion is not inverse. Either
this is a mistake (say it ain't so, Mr. P!) or I'm missing something.
