So that's inspired by Jimi Hendrix, is it? Wonderful to know. Apropos
Patti Smith - during the late 1970s and early 1980s my sister and I
had a custom of giving each other records for Xmas and birthday
presents, always presented in fake covers chosen because they were
horribly inappropriate for the real contents. On Christmas day 1981,
I received a very convincing "Olivia Newton John's Greatest Hits" which
turned out to be, you guessed it, _Horses_. I've been a Patti fan ever since.
_Horses_ remains one of the finest rock albums I have ever heard - a
work of pure, undiluted passion and beauty. It's good to know that
she's back on form with her latest release.
