The name 'Vineland"

Recent reference to the MMPI sparked  a recollection of discussions
with a SpecEd'er... and a search led to:

"Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales. Product Overview: A measure of
personal and social skills from birth to adulthood.
"...
"The semistructured interview and questionnaire formats make it easier
to assess those who have difficulty performing in testing situations.
"         An optional Maladaptive Behavior domain is included in
Interview Editions to measure undesirable behaviors. The Adaptive
Behavior  Composite summarizes performance on all four domains. "

...from a brochure.  Surely not the only basis for the choice, but it
possibly helped put Vineland on the short list.  Fwiw, Divry's sez
"aptos" means "palpable, tangible."
