Thank you! I have always hoped that I am an amazing specimen of
something. However, I am a trifle dismayed that you make broad
generalizations about who you believe to be the primary fabric of the
p-list. As I just witnessed yesterday re: Ebonics/Bad Joke controversy,
there are quite a few differing personalities/cultural sensibilities on
this list. Sadly, two people decided to leave (or lurk... ) because they
were threatened by jabs, intended or oblique. At any rate, using
*Christianity* as a convenient excuse for everything from the Crusades to
Bloody Mary's reign of terror to KKK's burning crosses has been the lame
tool of cowards to inflict evil on others with superficial impunity.
However, it doesn't follow that all Xtns=Murderers or Racists.
Hypocrites have always attracted the most attention in any religion or
ideology. What has happened in the past is disturbing, but also sadly
predictable.

I concur here, as a former educator (however brief). Again, the
polarization of the academy vs. the common man and common man vs. the
academy seems to be a sore spot, born of insecurity.

I believe the above statement is in direct opposition to your previous
statement re: 'serious conflict...amazing specimen.'

RE: CONEY ISLAND HIGH/Lotion, Sat. night
Davemarc--
Interested in the above mention. Late one night as I walked home a week
or so ago, a hundred people were standing outside Coney Island High
because of a bomb threat. Anarchy!! Maybe this Saturday will be less
traumatic.
