This is unclear--is this a slam at the particular environmentalism that
Turner supports or are you saying that all environmentalism is "cutesy"
and not a worthy cause?

Does the involvement of a woman who (at the time--I understand she's
recanted) had the courage to tell the NV that we were wrong to bomb
their villages and towns invalidate the worthiness of Turner's
contributions?

Steve--

I was unclear. No I don't think environmental causes are all "cutesy".
I question the expertise of Ted Turner and Jane Fonda as arbiters of
environmental acumen. Generally, the environmental movement today has
lost some of the steam it had 10 years ago, partly due to their success.
Many groups have become so large that many grass roots folks are finding
it harder and harder to find decent funding (this is the case across the
board in the np world). The Sierra Club's and National Resources Defense
Councils are familiar presences within the hallways of the Beltway, much
to their disadvantage I believe.
As for Ms. Fonda, I can't think of a more hypocritical action--"Oh, I
will come to your country, I feel your pain, I sympathize with you proud
brave Vietnamese". Now the North Viet. used her to the utmost with the
media but what did the average Vietnamese think? Fine for her, she'll
leave, back to her fucking acting career, and Hollywood, and we'll still
be under the bombs falling.
