It was suggested to me by a UK correspondent that "taking a piss" is
English English for having a laugh (and then there's the English "get
pissed" meaning "drunk" of course, which would explain but not IMHO
excuse). Now I get it. VERY savvy. LOL: ha ha, ha ha. And all along
Eleanor Rigbey was just using Swiftian methods to make the same point
as the Cabal itself. Wow!
Another, even more tortuous explanation comes to mind. Now I know
this'll sound a little paranoid, but we're all used to that, aren't
we, so hang on: A study of the reactions of a generally intellectual,
literate, academic/post-academic community to unpleasant (weak
adjective, I know, but...) remarks concerning a subset of it's number,
done within the safety of the net rather than at a university. SAVVY!
Guess I'm just a little slow and not as savage, I mean savvy, as some.
