Andrew,
On the contrary, I was so blown away by your "Children who are learning
to die" interpretation that I've felt unworthy to respond (and must be
unconciously working to make sure I _won't_ respond by leaving my
printout of your post at work while doing my own posting from home).
Lately I've been so brain-battered by the time I finally get around to my
e-mails at night that I haven't been up to contributing to the GRGR -- so
while I can feel smugly virtuous for actually mentioning Pynchon, I
apologize for not adding anything. Anyway, now I'm eager to finish this
re-reading to see how your ideas stand up through the other 3 sections.
Gave me a new appreciation for the song too, which I'm starting to think
is one of his best, and maybe a seminal one too, it seems.
