As an observer out of the plane described by points S, C, and D, it
seems to me that we can learn a few things here.

Don't trust anyone but me or the people I tell you to trust.

"Background" is not the same as "not for use."

Steely isn't as tough as he at first seems. Anything to defend or
attack. Takes a very vulnerable guy to be that defensive. Otherwise,
why drag from the file (mental or physical) that he apparently keeps
on/of everyone, this stale little recorder story. All's fair in love
and war and Steely's arguments with people are all apparently war to
him. When Chris revealed herself as Steely's unasked source, she
seemed upset to me. Apology from Steely? Noooo... He's a pro.
Apparently does this kind of thing all the time. Nope, Steely picks
apart Chris' language instead. Seems to be something that he shares
with Pynchon's characters: no apologies, only regrets really.
Pynchon's characters may be ineffectual, but I don't see them making
mistakes. (but I may be mistaken; if I am...)
