Hello. I'm new to the list and relatively new to Thomas Pynchon--just
finished CoL49, and read V awhile ago. I have a question and I hope
nobody thinks I'm stupid/annoying. I'm wondering what some of you think
Oedipa wanted at the end of Lot 49: do you think she wanted Trystero to
exist, giving her life some amount of structure, even if a very
weak and scary one, or for herself to be insane? I've been thinking about
it a lot. I know there are no hard and fast answers (esp. when you're
dealing with a guy like Pynchon), but I'd just like to hear some opinions.
Hope this question annoys as few people as possible--I'm certainly no
expert, I just have been bowled over by Pynchon and his ideas.
Thanks
