I'm pretty new to this list, but it occurs to me that most of the messages I
reveive through it are only marginally related to the life and works of
Pynchon, if at all. Not a complaint, just an observation.

Here is my Pynchon-centric question:

Does anybody know the deal behind Kirkpatrick Sale's acknowledgement to
Pynchon in the back of his book "SDS"? The acknowledgements also tip the
hat to Donald Barthelme and Marge Piercy, among others. If you know more
about this, please enlighten me.

Here is my Pynchon-centric comment:
I'm reading "Song of the Dodo: Island Biogeography In an Age of
Extinctions," by David Quamen. A good source for dodo background, if you're
interested. The letters home from Mauritius are absolutely
Pynchon-esque--another perfect tone.

Leaving a trail of ruffled feathers wherever I go, Craig B.
