     Currently in progress:

"A New Life" by Bernard Malamud

"The Recognitions" by Gaddis - sadly, this has in in progress for
     almost a year!

"Lake Wobegon Days" by Garrison Keillor - and yes, I do sometimes
listen to "Prairie Home Companion" and, I have to say, I enjoy it, as
I'm enjoying this book. It's a midwest thing!

Current issue of Harper's, always read in same progression:
Index - Lewis Latham - readings - look at all articles - read 1st
paragraph of each - studiously avoid anything labeled "forum" - go
back and read the interesting articles - letters - call friends in
Madison WI and bitch about the sorry state of Harper's overall, get
     sympathy, eagerly await new issue.

"Information Technology and Society" by: Laudon, Traver, and Laudon.
     (School!)

     Recently finished:

Wallace's "Girl with Curious Hair" I did not finish the last story, as it
     ANNOYED me to no end.

"An Artist of the Floating World" by (oh no! I can't remember his
     first name!) Ishiguro

"Borderliners" by Peter Hoeg - not especially recommended.

Speaking of Hoeg, anybody see they're making a movie out of
     "Smilla's Sense of Snow?"

     On the stereo:
New Joni Mitchell, the Sex Pistols, Mingus, NPR, La Bottine
Souriante, the Bells of Dublin, Mozart's Requiem.
