Tragedy of Commons Nursery Rimes

Came across these 18th century nursery rimes that still have much to say
about our culture:

They hang the man
and flog the woman
that steals the goose
from off the Common;

but let the greater
felon loose
that steals the Common
from the goose.



And this one on corporate welfare:

Hark, hark the dogs do bark.
The beggars are coming to town.
Some in rags and some in bags
and some in velvet gowns.
