Check out NY Times Sunday Magazine, 1/19/97 issue, p. 16. Article by
Michiko Kakutani on Paranoia. Mostly a culture shtick--...And in the
works of Thomas Pynchon, vast conspiratorial networks metastatize,
symbols of either the overwhelming nature of reality in our
information-mad world or simply the yearning for meaning, experienced by
poor delusional human beings.
BTW, _Infinite Jest_ is out in paperback, Chris Carter will probably be
leaving the X-Files next season to work in movies, and yes movie rights
for Delillo's Underground has already been purchased by Paramount, I do
believe.
"what does he want?"
"he doesn't want anything. he's insane"--Frank Black (no, not from JR)
