Regarding the drug culture in VINELAND - In what year was the novel set?
Regarding the drug culture in real life - I find it quite funny that people
can try to spin some sort of "LEAVE IT TO BEAVER" idea out of what was
basically a dangerous time - Sure there were a lot of "groovy" things going
on and sure there were even some folks quite generous with their drugs (for
better or worse) but the idea of  a gaggle of urban Robin Hoods is merely
myth (alas)

As for librarian bashing - Just try it buddy - Then see how well you do on
your next book report
