Recent findings reported in the NY TIMES (and surely elsewhere)
that what we call "puberty" has its biological beginnings in
humans as early as age nine must surely throw additional
confusing shadows on the whole issue of the sexual attractiveness
of youths. If we once believed puberty began at age 12, and
women could marry as young as 16, does that mean that if puberty
begins at nine, four years later (age 13), women (and men; girls
and boys) are sexual adults?
