De gustibus, eh?  But do step back a little and hone those readerly skills
some more before jumping in: that you've managed to miss the pretty clear
and rather uncomplicated fact that I am a woman makes me wonder what else
has escaped your notice by now.  Any serious writer, and Pynchon more than
some, deserves a fate kinder [if a great deal more critical] than to be
treated as a screen for one's starry-eyed projections -- or an object of
hero-worship.
