A one day conference on Saturday 15 November 1997 at 10.00
at the Theatre Workshop, Shearwood Road (off Glossop Road), Sheffield.

The conference will cover a wide range of literature. Initial
responses range from The Ale House in Elizabethan drama to Women
Drinkers in Contemporary Literature, and from individual texts (e.g. I
Henry IV) and authors (e.g. Peter Redgrove, Brendan Behan) to broader
themes and issues (politics, temperance, folklore ...).

We hope to publish a collection of essays based on papers given at the
   conference.

Please send proposals for twenty minute papers to:

Dr. Sue Owen, Department of English Literature, University of
    Sheffield, Sheffield S10 2TN.
