Nostalgia for the unborn

Ben Greenburg's extrapolation of a nostalgia for things/events
that have not yet come to pass actually already exists, in one
certain form.  It's the "Yesterday's Tomorrows" sensation:
all of us raised on SF (circa 1940-1965) longing for our personal
rocket belts and food pills.
