the future of the list

I know nothing about the way list servers work but is it not possible to
exclude individuals from the list,  temporarily as a traffic calming
measure, or more permanently if intransigence makes it necessary.  General
moderation of contributions as has been described strikes me as a method
which would probably stifle the flow of discussion which does make the
p-list so stimulating.  There is clearly a wide range of opinion as to what
constitutes a valid contribution to the list and moderation would likely
create a source of disagreement however it was handled.
        Lets get to the real heart of the issue by naming names and openly
and directly challenging the mainline badmouths to cool it, learn a little
respect,   or risk being shut out.  I know it isn't easy,  look at the
differences raised by the latest anti Jules episode,  but it is particular
people's attitudes that are fucking things up,  not how tightly the
discussions orbit TP's writings.
