Spying is an attitude, I think, not the mere act of observation. Chrissie
originally brought this up in October. I think she used the word spying
because she perceived an element of deceptiveness in Pynchon's relations
with others, as in her comments about the "stupid surfer guy."

This message can be a good test of the need for a moderator.

Am I allowed to say this? Is it necessary for others to now attack my
motives for doing so? To attribute Chrissie's remarks to me because I
repeated them here and published them? To attack my credibility and hers and
insist that these remarks are mere gossip?

Or can we just discuss the subject at hand?
