The future of the list -- nanny time?

Charles's "so speaketh a male ego" post [it misses the point to merely
patronize me, Charles] deserves a Diana York Blaine to handle. But DYB has
been either silent or absent for months....

What this moderator discussion has done to another *man* on this list is to
send me this private message:

>Hey Vaska--

>The Rushdie quote you posted was beautiful. Best explanation of
>literature's glorious futility I've seen.

>PS--It probably would have been cut by a P-list moderator.

If it weren't for that fear of vitriolic ripostes and public humiliation
from quarters mentioned in Harrison's recent message, this might have been
posted to the list and become an occasion for us to think about just how
futile literature and Pynchon's work is, to what extent, in what sense,
always and everywhere [?], inevitably or in the short run, etc.

Might have been an interesting group discussion -- some day, it might even
become one.
