All this useless beauty

Not to be overly blunt (please no one take this personally), but would
both the men and women posting forty to fifty "well, I didn't do that, but
so-and-so did" messages on this list please SHUT THE FUCK UP or talk about
something even peripherally related to Pynchon. I went on vacation for a
week and a half and returned to find 1,062 messages from this newsgroup
clogging my inbox like wet hair in a shower drain. This would have been a
welcome find if more than twenty or thirty of them had been on threads
that were even remotely interesting or relevant (believe me, I have a
losse definition of relevant, but this recent back and forth on
private/public and some of the real dozzies of last week ain't it!).
Please, for the sake of my delete-button finger, once you've made your
point, let it be. I appreciate the wish to discuss some of these topics,
but *ad nauseam*? on-list? with nothing but piss-and-vinegar "harridan"
and "door-knob" playground taunts? If you're still out there Harrison, I
agree with you and am about as close to becoming a permanent non-lurker as
you.
