Thanks! I recently joined the list here, so I didn't catch your previous 
Patrick O'Brien reference...but yes, it had occurred to me before. I've 
read the first two novels in his LONG series, and couldn't help but 
wonder if TRP had dipped into those brilliantly entertaining and cerebral 
waters....and as far as The Man In The Red Cap and The Tall And Balding 
Man In The Tacky Jacket goes, perhaps we've taken this pursuit for TRP as 
far as it can go (until we receive further verification)...the CNN tape 
has begun to resemble the Abraham Zapruder film----it succeeds in posing 
more intriguing questions than it can possibly answer.....
And yes, Jack Aubrey WAS an expert on celestial navigation!!
