Rome, January 22-23, 1998

To mark the 60th birthday of American writer Thomas Pynchon, The
American Studies Center, John Cabot University and the arts and
literature journal Praz! are organizing an international conference in
Rome, scheduled for January 22-23 1998.


The conference will be concerned with Pynchon’s broader social and
cultural influence on readers, writers, the academy, and his
relationship with technological and cyber culture. With these aims in
mind, papers concerning his works and influence, plus exhibitions,
performances and installations deriving from the cultural and artistic
visions surrounding his works are welcome.  Projects on the influence
and reception of Pynchon in Italy are highly welcome.
