It was definitely a *perfect* touch to send Bone to the KGB gathering
acting all naive about Pynchon and curious to learn about the "cult" of
Pynchon followers and chatting them up as if to find out about them, and
then "realizing" he could stalk Pynchon and snap a photo as a capper for
the story. After that, who'd ever suspect Pynchon was pulling all the 
strings?
