a dry eye

Diana's Departure--maybe--will leave nary a dry eye in the house. Count
my merely lurking orbs, although before she goes--if she goes--I just wanted
to say that I have finally given up my pretense to have grown up unaffected
in a racially and sexually stratified culture. Trouble is, now what? I mean,
I just (re)read Lot 49, liked it, but now am not sure if I really did or was
merely deluding myself, on the basis of some sort of male privilege. Perhaps
this is the trouble with pretense; it's hard to renounce, even for the best
reasons.
