Maybe TRP's disappointment comes from the fact it is so accessible.
I don't think he set off to write a second rate work, but the novella is
easier to digest than anything else he's written (IMHO) and in the
end it is neither as abstract as V nor as controversial as GR. By the
time "Slow Learner" arrives he's distancing himself from the little
book...
