I just spoke to one of the bar partners (he's apparently gotten quite a
few calls recently) -- here is the gist of the event:
Contestants participating must show up at 6:45 pm, Sunday April 27th to
read 5-10 minutes worth of original unpublished work that is 'Pynchonian
in nature.' (No one may read from V., Vineland, COL49, Gravity's
Rainbow, Slow Learner, etc.) The event begins at 7:00 pm and it's free.
The winner will be chosen by audience acclimation. Prize TBA.
Melvin 'Mel' Bukiet is indeed the author of _After_, as Steve Maas
pointed out, as well as _When the Messiah Tarries_. In addition to being
a writer, Bukiet is one of KGB's partners.
Hope to see a fair share of p-listers casting their votes on the applause
meter.
