This manner of display was suggested by Henry Holt's marketing people, if I
remember right. Two stores in Toronto (the Chapters flagship on Bloor and
The Book Cellar on Yorkville) had copies displayed like this yesterday ...
FWIW, Chapters (the Canadian equivalent of Borders / Barnes&Noble) had
about 50 copies piled up at the front door, but there didn't seem to be a
huge rush on them. Though they were charging full price ($34.95 Canadian)
... look for a 30% discount when it hits the Globe and Mail's bestseller
list ...
