Is this "netlynews" dude working from the galley or random speculation?
No one on the list who has seen the book has indicated that postings are more
than 1/4 of the book--and most seem to agree 1/5 or less.
(I suppose ListPostings could make up a third of the book if you include
Siegel's own postings--for which no one would suggest he needs ask
permission--but its sloppy not to mention that, if that's the way the percentage
is being calculated.)
What's the source of the "at least one-third," Penny? Or anyone?

Siegel finally bailed out of the list, but now he has turned the
transcripts of the flame war into a book called "Lineland," which
conveniently comes on the heels of Pynchon's latest novel -- and also raises
a host of ethical questions: In addition to the liberties Siegel may be
taking with Pynchon's privacy, not all of the participants in the mailing
list, whose postings make up at least a third of the book, were asked for
permission to be quoted, and the feeling on Pynchon-L is that Siegel behaved
inappropriately.
