Kirn's Slate review

To learn a little more about Kirn, check out the June 96 Esquire, featuring
Pynchon's interview with Lotion.  Kirn's got a short story in it.  The
little bio on page 24 sez:  "Walter Kirn, whose short story 'Mouth to
Mouth' appears on page 108, has been contributing fiction to the magazine
since 1989.  Kirn, the book critic for *New York* magazine, is the author
of *My Hard Bargain* and *She Needed Me* (Washington Square Press).  'Mouth
to Mouth' will be part of Kirn's next novel."

Nothing about plans to build a career on reviewing half-novels,
half-paintings, half-poems, half-operas, etc.
