Legitimate Discussions vs. Private Flames

Just a thought... this entire incident has moved far beyond the idea of
"legitimate discussion," that is, it's become a personal grudge match and
shouting match and "my vocabulary/command of the language/cajones are bigger
than yours..."

Outside of small "digs" and sparks  buried in good discussion, what purpose
does all of this serve, really.

Personally, I was and am interested in the issues being discussed re:
Lineland, email privacy issues, internet chopyright law ... and even though
this has very little to do with Thomas R. Pynchon, Jr. and his writings, I
think many people on this list have exhibited more than human patience and
restraint and have let us all bludgeon the equine all the way to the glue
factory!

Please, can we just stop it.  Jules has accumulated more than enough
material for the sequel.   I think it's time to move on.
