Is this "Grandfather's Clock" song that has been mentioned a few times
the same "Grandfather's Clock" popularized by Lawrence Welk?  I think
the opening lines were:
"My grandfather's clock was too high for the shelf
So it stood fifty years on the floor" 
Merely curious Linda, whose parents and grandparents used to watch the
Welk show over card games every saturday night.....
