<snippage of very eloquently put Obs.>
| It's not like I spend every waking hour thinking about Pynchon's books,
| it's just that Pynchon is one of those writers whose work seems to
| involve a long-term commitment. Though I just finished reading _IJ_
| earlier this spring and do plan to read it again over the summer, I
| don't think I would yet make that kind of statement about DFW's work.
|
Not having read _IJ_, I can still relate to your Obs. that reading Pynchon
is a long-term commitment. Out of curiosity, can DFW be re-read, as many
times, for as many different reasons, and in as many different ways as TRP?
I commented off-list to Doc Thompson that while I'm making my way through
M&D, a certain large book, by a certain reclusive author, with a blazing
yellow sun on the cover keeps chiding me: re-read ME, re-read ME, re-read
ME.
There aren't too damn many books that can do that to me, and maybe TRP is
the only author whose work can do that to me.
Am I an aberration, or does TRP do this to others???
| Hoping some of this makes sense,
|Makes more sense than ya think.
