DFW on NPR

FWIW, I too finished _IJ_ this spring after fitful reading during the
winter. When I finished the book I found myself returning to certain
vivid scenes and situations, but I also found myself saying "so what?"
DFW certainly is clever in a cutsey "look-at-me" kind of way, but he
lacks the depth and breadth of the P-man.

'Nother way of coming at this is Pynchon, however you say his name, is
going to keep your gray matter stirred up for considerably longer
page-per-page and sentence-per-sentence than Mr. DFW. Feeling I get after
finishing _IJ_ is that the author didn't take the time to think out his
book; after finishing _GR_ I can neither stop thinking nor stop intuiting
that *something* is going on just beyond the extent of my awareness.
