Where does the O.G. fit in besides the slapstick humor?  Well, isn't it 
where Mason is saved (from what he comically observes as the moon) from 
being crushed by Rebekah,this being the first time they met--not only is 
the scene funny, but for Mason it is fraught with meaning and 
poignancy... leave it to Pynch to combine the two. Read into this all you 
want but it surely contains both elements.

Giant Veggies--let's not forget Bugs (singing Jimmie Crack corn and I 
don't Care..my master's gone away.) and Paul Bunyan (and his little dog 
Smidgen)...I've discovered a carrot mine!!!
