Just read the M&D review in the New York Review of Books, June 12, 1997
issue, by Louis Menand.  It's quite a favorable review, ending with "an
astonishing and wonderful book,"  in which he links M&D with Levi-Strauss'
"Tristes Tropiques" in the matter of loss of the foreign to colonialism.
