Ahh, now that reminds me . . .
I was planning that the next fortnight would be spent looking over
part 1 in toto, on the grounds that we've seen the trees and ought to
start searching for the wood. The intention was that I would post an
initial commentary. Given Meg's position perhaps it would be best to
continue this plan.
However, rather than just have my ideas pushed on everyone I'd like to
ask anyone else who is interested to prepare a few paragraphs or pages
and be ready to post them on Friday morning. Of course you can all
just post your usual stuff but it is quite instructive for both writer
and readers if someone takes the trouble to piece together a
reasonable argument and backs it up with a few quotes or references.
Make it as specific or general as you like, just so long as it
attempts some sustained argument over some aspect or other of part 1.
Rather than attempt to obtain a consensus I am going to unilaterally
declare Friday (and beyond) a free for all, mop-up session on part 1.
I'll be posting something anyway and I'm just going to hope that the
rest of you join in too.
And while we are here I'll also ask all the previous MCs and anyone
else interested in hosting a session in part 2 to sign up for a
repeat/first performance by posting me a mail note. I'll get the
schedule up for the first few sessions on part 2 and publish it on the
MDMD web page as soon as I receive confirmation from all of you.
