Rocketman Costume

hey guys! 

Being a new reader of Pynchon, al'a GR this past summer, (followed by 
VL, and now workin through M&D), I have to say that I have been 
thoroughly enjoying this list, listening to all you intelligent 
important folks discuss the finer points of these incredible books that 
I discovered in a manner that Mr.P would probably get a chuckle out of.

Anyhoo ~

I would be forever grateful if maybe a few of you would (if you feel so 
inclined) email me off list your own mental interpretations of how you 
feel the character of Slothrop looks during the Rocketman Costume phase. 
(oh, and perhaps quotes of Mr.P's actual descriptions of the costume, I 
know I can look those up for myself, but time is pressing, and seeing as 
how I have only so far been through GR one time, any attempt at looking 
for a specific passage only ends in me getting caught up in some other 
delicious thread of Pynchonness, and while this is lovely, it really 
isn't much help..)

I am in the beginning phase of building an illustration of our dear 
Rocketman, and although my interpretation burns clearly in my mind, I 
have come to so appreciate your opinions that anything any of you could 
add would be gratefully accepted.
