This does seem to be the implication, but until just now I had thought it
pointless:  Where would it get you if it were or it weren't?  Is this all
just a ploy to get Slothrop into bed with Darlene?  If so, why?  But then
there's that retorical question rj pointed out at the end of the episode:

Yep.  Just stand back and wait.  Is that why they lured Slothrop to bed?
Just one more experimant to see if he really works.
