EYES WIDE SHUT

Not to belabor the point but Dr Harford is the "hero" here--he's not evil,
just thrown off kilter seeing as he's been told things by his wife that
unhinges him (and everyone that comes in contact with him.) He realizes his
implication in the possible murders of the hooker, and the pianist, (not to
mention the scene of a young girl being prostituted by her father) but like
what unfolds in The Magus, we're not too sure about what has transpired.
Harford comes to a rather dark epiphany (as does the wife) and heck, that's
what art is for, right? He's not Katje, though they do end up in similar
circumstances.

Sure it's an ambigious ending, but I felt as satisfied as when reading the
last line of Fowles' masterpiece.

Besides a couple of references to "under the rainbow" and a secret society
of perverts (sure, think Trystero), there wasn't much else pynchonian about
it.
