Rock and Roll

Reading an interesting article about the adverse effects of the
consolidation of many record labels for artists, I came across a brief
interview with Ike Turner, who it turns out was one of the very first A&R
men in the 50s, bringing Howlin Wolf to Sun Studios, e.g. In 1951, he led a
session with Jackie Brenston, a young singer from Clarksdale, MS, that
yielded the Chess Records hit "Rocket 88", widely considered the first Rock
and Roll single.
There's that darn rocket again, 88s were of note b/c the germans put this
gauge on their new King Tigers and were devastating, though not enough were
built. Note also the 88, inverted infinity signs, pertinant for many a joe
or ivan sent to the other world, thx to that gun.
I won't belabor the point that in 1951 another famous such rocket launch was
executed.

it's all connected
